HALAS BE THY NAME
well, it's Packer Week for my beloved Chicago Bears. we're having a pretty good year this time out... rush oriented offense and the defense is lights-out. I mean it's world class. 11 games in, the Bears defenders have given up less than 11 points per game. of course, the Bears-Packers rivalry is the oldest in the NFL, and this rivalry is so intense, the Bears (8-3) and Packers (2-9) throw the records out when they play each other, and just line up and play smashmouth football. Just the way Papa Bear George S. Halas (above) liked it. and the hatred between the two? basically it exists only with a lot of the fans. myself, I don't hate Green Bay... this old-time match-up is special, and the league wouldn't be what it is today without it. old Papa Bear himself was close personal friends with late Packers coach Curly Lambeau, and, if memory serves correctly, Halas was a pallbearer at Lambeau's funeral. here's a few images...
this is George Halas, as a player in the early 1920's. he played defensive end, and was also the coach.
this is Jim McMahon, QB of the '85 Super Bowl Bears. he's a total nut-case, but he could read a defense like nobody's business.
Mike Singletary. one of the best linebackers to ever play the game. enough said.
here's a good picture of a modern Bears helmet.
I found this shot on the Internet. Go Bears.
anybody out there like to tailgate? this guy does.
check out this Bears helmet mailbox! I have got to get me one of these...
... oh, and this is what long-time Bear-killer Brett Favre will look like for most of the afternoon today....
